Biophilic Murals

Biophilic Design is a concept used within architecture and interior design to bring nature inside. It helps connect people to the outside environment by incorporating plants, natural conditions like light and space, and even images of nature.

Each mural is based on biophilia to add life and connectedness to your unique space. We start with a consultation to learn about your vision and mission. Then a concept is developed to create a positive and healing environment for every staff member and visitor. The result is a magical transformation—a white wall that's painted into an everlasting, welcoming experience.

"Pam came up with truly amazing design concepts that I could never have imagined. Pam lives and breathes art and design and her love for what she does is positively infectious! Her vision for my product catapulted me to a whole new level of my business and I feel truly blessed to have found her."

The Process

STEP 1: Connect
Book a free consultation below to discuss logistics like size, timeline, budget, location and vision. It's very helpful if you can send photos of the wall, the area around it, and your favourite mural examples. After a site visit to collect more info, a quote is sent. When the quote and contract are signed and the 1st deposit received, we'll book the painting days and start the design process. (I'm available to travel to projects within Toronto and around Canada.)

STEP 2: Research & Design
You get to fill out a fun visual questionnaire and I'll research more about your organization's story and branding. A concept is developed and presented as a digital drawing to-scale. There are 1-2 rounds of revisions. Client approves design and paint colours before we move on to Step 3.

STEP 3: Prep
Wall repairs and priming is completed. Materials, paint and templates are purchased and prepared. Contractors and equipment are booked. Site is clear of any wires, furniture or debris.

STEP 4: Production
Scaffold and/or ladders are set up. Paint and materials will be cleaned up every night and stored in a dedicated storage area. Painting happens every day until the mural is complete, from 3 days to 3 weeks depending on the size of the mural. Site is cleaned and all materials and equipment are removed. Client is welcome to take photos (or share mine) on social media and tag @pamlostracco

STEP 5: It's a Wrap
Final deposit is due. Then you forever get to enjoy your new view!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?
Every mural is unique and the quote is mostly based on the size of the wall(s) and the complexity of the design. Most murals range from $3,000 to $30,000. Send a quick email and we can discuss more from there.

How long will it take?
This is also based on size, design, equipment and location. The design process takes about 1-2 weeks and painting the mural can range from 3 days to 4 weeks.

What's your availability?
I'm usually booked a few months out and schedule the next project when the first deposit is paid. Outdoor murals are painted from May to October and indoor murals are painted all year round.

What's included?
* A custom mural based on your brand and biophilic design.
* A design process that shows you exactly how the mural will look before it's painted.
* 25 years experience in graphic design, illustration, art products and murals.
* A professional artist who passionate, perceptive, persistent and precise.
* Certification in Working at Heights and Scissor Lift training.
* Business liability insurance.

Do you sell templates so I can paint my own Mountain Mural?
No, however, I describe a lot of the process in this 2014 article on Apartment Therapy. I'd love to see your final piece of art—so please tag @pamlostracco as the designer in your posts!
